Mike Doyle
Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) is currently serving his seventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He represents the 14th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. Representative Doyle sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over legislative matters including telecommunications, consumer protection, and health care, as well as energy and the environment. He has been especially interested in ensuring that federal telecommunications policies truly promote competition and innovation in telecommunications services – and that those policies provide the greatest possible benefit to consumers through new and better services and lower prices. Representative Doyle has been a staunch defender of Net Neutrality and open access for innovative wireless devices and software. In the current Congress, he has introduced legislation to substantially increase the number of Low Power FM radio licenses the Federal Communications Commission could issue. Representative Doyle’s “Do Not Call Improvement Act” was recently signed into law by President Bush. Representative Doyle recently criticized FCC Chairman Martin for rejecting the Skype petition to apply the Carterfone decision to wireless devices and applications. He is actively involved in efforts to ensure that the national transition to digital television broadcasts goes smoothly.
