Solange Bitol Hansen
Solange Hansen joined Public Campaign in the summer of 2005 as the national programs director. She is responsible for co-managing Public Campaign's Clean Elections state-based campaigns and strengthening Public Campaign's work with campaign finance reform allies across the country. Prior to joining Public Campaign, Solange was a senior legislative advocate for the Service Employees International Union focusing on legislation and policy affecting immigrant workers. During her tenure at SEIU, Solange crisscrossed the country organizing immigrant workers, advocating for legalization and family unification legislation, and highlighting the wave of workplace injustices committed against immigrant workers. Solange represented SEIU at the World Social Forum in Porto Allegre, Brazil, and at the World Conference on Racism in Barbados, where she spoke on social and economic justice issues impacting low-wage workers. Prior to SEIU, Solange served as legislative counsel to Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa), legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union, legislative counsel for the NAACP Washington National Bureau and was chief of staff for Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas). A 15-year member of the California State Bar, Solange is a graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law and completed her undergraduate work at St. Mary's College of California.
