Marcy Wheeler

Marcy Wheeler blogs under the name "emptywheel" at emptywheel.firedoglake.com. She was the lead live-blogger of Firedoglake.com's pioneering coverage of the Scooter Libby trial and published the book Anatomy of Deceit: How the Bush Administration Used the Media to Sell the Iraq War and Out a Spy on the case. Marcy has frequently spoken on citizen journalism, appearing at Duke Law School, Amherst College, Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities, and Claremont McKenna. She has appeared on NPR, PBS, C-SPAN, and Air America. Marcy has a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, for which she studied a journalistic form, the feuilleton, that has offered space for alternative publics and even -- at times -- an outlet for citizen journalism.
