Rob Richie
Rob Richie has directed FairVote (www.fairvote.org) since its founding in 1992. FairVote is a nonprofit organization acting to transform American elections to achieve equal access to participation, a full spectrum of meaningful choices, and majority rule with fair representation and a voice for all. Richie is co-author of Every Vote Equal, about establishing a national popular vote for president and Whose Votes Count, about the case for proportional voting and instant runoff voting in American elections, and his writings have appeared in seven additional books, all of the nation's leading newspapers and magazines like The Nation and In These Times. Richie has been a guest on radio and TV programs on C-SPAN, NBC News, NPR's All Things Considered and Talk of the Nation, CNN, FOX, Democracy Now!, Bloomberg News and MSNBC. Since becoming FairVote's founding director in 1992, Richie has addressed the annual conventions of the American Political Science Association, National Association of Counties, National Association of Secretaries of State, and National Conference of State Legislatures; drafted federal and state legislation; and testified before numerous charter commissions and state legislative committees. He and his wife Cynthia Terrell live with their three children in Takoma Park, Md.
