Steve Macek is a member of Chicago Media Action. He teaches media studies, speech communication and urban studies at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. His writings on politics, the media and media policy have been published in newspapers, magazines and academic journals. He is author of the award-winning book Urban Nightmares: The Media, the Right and the Moral Panic over the City (University of Minnesota Press, 2006) and is currently working on a critical history of Chicago journalism.
