Michael Jacoby Brown

Michael Jacoby Brown has worked for more than 30 years as a community organizer and trainer for many neighborhood, tenant, labor, religious, health and other groups. He has a B.A. from Columbia University and an MPA from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. He is the author of Building Powerful Community Organizations: A Personal Guide to Creating Groups that Can Solve Problems and Change the World (Long Haul Press, 2007). He is the founder and former executive director of the Jewish Organizing Initiative and currently the director/lead organizer of MICAH, an interfaith, congregation-based community organization in Framingham, Mass. He is married, has two children and lives in Arlington, Mass.
