Kristal Brent Zook

Kristal Brent Zook, Ph.D., is a New York-based journalist and author whose work has appeared in the Washington Post, the New York Times Magazine, Essence, Vibe, The Nation, and many other outlets. She is a frequent commentator and guest on television and radio outlets and has appeared on CNN, C-SPAN, NPR, BET, TV One, Fox, and MSNBC among others. Her most recent book is I See Black People: The Rise and Fall of African American-owned Television and Radio (Nation Books, March 2008). Zook is an associate professor of journalism at Hofstra University.
