Andre Banks
Andre Banks joined ColorOfChange.org as deputy director at the start of 2008.Andre brings a wealth of communications and project management experience in various nonprofit advocacy settings. Before coming to ColorOfChange.org, Andre worked as a consultant on thought-leading social change projects focusing on long-term communications planning, online communications strategy, and crisis response with an expertise in the identity questions that dominate the national conversation. Andre served as the director of media and public affairs at the Applied Research Center and as associate publisher of ColorLines magazine, moving messages to and about people of color in mainstream, ethnic and alternative media. He's also built alliances between unions and student organizations concerned with economic justice with the AFL-CIO. At Africa Action, he led the national media strategy in campaigns to fight AIDS in Africa and end the genocide in Darfur, Sudan. Andre began his career as a student organizer with the Columbus Network for Equal Rights and Justice while earning a B.A. in political science from the Ohio State University. He is an experienced trainer, having led sessions on organizational development, strategic campaigns, and communications for organizations across the country.
