Corporate Media Confidential

Date: Friday, June 6th
Time: 12:30pm to 2:00pm
Room: 205 AB
Track: Journalism and Independent Media
Session Type: panel

It's easy to critique the corporate media, but you can't hope to change things unless you understand how it works. On this panel, former corporate media insiders will discuss what they learned while working for the biggest media companies. How are news decisions made? Do owners influence what gets covered and what doesn't? What stories are being ignored -- and why? Is the media getting worse? Panelists will draw on their experiences to take a critical look at the challenge of getting Big Media to cover issues that matter -- including the media industry itself -- in a meaningful way.
