Date: Sunday, June 8th
Time: 8:30am to 10:00am
Room: 205 C D
Track: Media Policy
Session Type: workshop

TV and radio stations are required by the terms of their licenses to operate in the “public interest, convenience and necessity.” Under current FCC rules, stations must renew their licenses every eight years. This workshop will orient media reform activists to the inner workings of the FCC and how to hold broadcasters accountable by challenging their license renewal applications. It will feature case studies of recent license-challenges and provide participants with the information necessary to understand how the FCC works and to carry out broadcast license challenges in their own communities.
