Spotsylvania, Virginia, is taking baby steps toward the development of a wireless broadband network. The city Board of Supervisors is seeking a consultant to assist it in planning.
The board recently approved $10,000 to hire a consultant to "help the wireless broadband authority navigate the State Corporation Commission's requirements for approval" of a network, according to the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star.
The plan is to offer the service as an alternative to dial-up. Sparsely populated areas in the surrounding has failed to attract cable and DSL service.
