Media Access Project has filed a petition on behalf of Prometheus Radio Project asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit to throw out the FCC's changes to its media-ownership rules that allow newspaper-broadcast cross-ownership in the top 20 markets.
Prometheus Radio Project is the organization that helped get an earlier FCC ownership-rules revision largely thrown out by the courts back in 2003.
MAP filed that petition on Prometheus' behalf as well, and it's no surprise that they're again involved; MAP President/CEO Andrew Schwartzman has spoken out strongly against the rules change, accusing FCC Chairman Kevin Martin of "caving in to lobbying from the media giants."
