Universal Service Reform Act of 2007 (H.R. 2054)
The Universal Service Reform Act of 2007 (H.R. 2054), introduced by Reps. Rick Boucher (D-Va.) and Lee Terry (R-Neb.), would "improve the Universal Service Fund (USF) and ensure its continued viability."
The Act would broaden the base of contributions into the Universal Service Fund, limits distributions from the Fund and includes high speed broadband access. It would be the first time that universal service support is used for broadband deployment.
The bill currently has 44 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives.
