Businesses say JEA would have unfair advantage

Municipalities nationwide are approving millions of dollars in city-backed funds to kick-start public utility telecommunications ventures without citizen support.
But whether citizens get to vote on the issue or not, the private sector continues to question whether it is ethical for government entities to compete in the open market.
That debate is alive and well in Jackson.
