Radio Silence Protests Fee Plan

Radio stations and music broadcasters are warning that a plan to sharply increase the royalties paid for online broadcasts could silence much of Internet radio.
The new rates, set to go into effect July 15, were approved in March by the Copyright Royalty Board and would force online stations to pay music-performance fees that regular radio stations have never paid.
