People trying to listen to their favorite Internet radio stations today might be greeted with silence as webcasters go quiet to protest proposed increases to music royalty rates.

The so-called "Day of Silence" will see webcasters nationwide shut off access to their music streams or replace them with long periods of silence or special broadcasts.
