It is absurd for state legislators to slash Gov. Ted Kulongoski's budget request for Oregon Public Broadcasting. Since 2003, legislators have thrown scraps to OPB. Kulongoski had allocated enough for OPB to carry out a major transition of updating its rural translator system that sends its signals across Oregon.
