Faithful viewers of Oregon Public Broadcasting might need to steel themselves for an extra-long pledge drive.

That's because the legislature's chief budget writers have whittled back the amount of money Gov. Ted Kulongoski proposed for the state's flagship public broadcaster, from $3.75 million to $500,000.
