White House Plans Explosion in Mobile Broadband by Making Spectrum Available

The telecom industry is quite pleased to see more spectrum available for purchase, as proposed by President Barack Obama in his memorandum to make available 500 MHz over the next ten years. What concerns broadband policy advocates is that there will be no selectivity in who can get their hands on the spectrum, and that it would end up being licensed to the exclusive class of incumbents who are already gouging customers and smothering competition.
