AT&T Inc.'s merger with BellSouth Corp. is more than another megamerger.

Because AT&T agreed to "network neutrality" principles to get regulators to approve the $86 billion merger, experts say this is a landmark moment in Internet history, preserving — for now — the egalitarian ways of the Web.
