Eastern Connecticut Cable Television started with an offhand phone tip back in 1964.

An attorney for AT&T mentioned to Edmund O'Brien, counsel for the old Hartford Electric Light Co., that the telephone company was going to have to share its poles with these new upstart "community antenna" systems.
