JEFFERSON CITY — A bill to make it easier for telephone companies in Missouri to offer television services in competition with cable is probably dead, its sponsor said Monday.

The Missouri Senate debated the bill for more than an hour Monday night before Sen. John Griesheimer, the measure's sponsor, saw an impasse and called it quits.
