Before the end of the month, there will be one less local television evening newscast.

WSTR-TV (Channel 64) will drop local news. The final broadcast will be Feb. 24. Staffers were told Thursday about the change.

"The staff has worked hard and professionally to produce a solid news product," said Jon Lawhead, the station's general manager.
