Critics said the process has been slow, but the city of Manassas is on the verge of delivering high-speed Internet access over power lines to the entire city.
The Virginia suburb made headlines when it announced plans in 2003 to deploy the nation's first citywide broadband-over-power-line (BPL) system. The network is now available to about 10,000 of the city's 12,500 homes.
