Public Discussion About the Impact of Media Ownership Rules

On Tuesday, October 23rd two of the five members of the FCC and two of the country's most respected and successful television producers will have a public discussion about the impact of media ownership rules - both vertical and horizontal integration - on the television industry. This will be among the first, if not the first time, such a discussion has taken place.
The event will happen in two separate panels moderated and connected by the Dean of the College of Communication at Emerson College, Prof. Janis Andersen.
In the first panel FCC Commissioners Michael J. Copps and Jonathan S. Adelstein will discuss media ownership issues from their perspective. Dean Andersen will both ask questions and solicit questions from the audience. In the second hour the second panel will take the stage and the Commissioners will join the audience. The second panel of Vin Di Bona and Lucille Salhany will discuss media ownership issues from the perspective of the television industry. Dean Andersen will ask the media industry leaders questions and solicit questions from the audience. Di Bona is the Executive Producer of the longest running primetime program on ABC, "America's Funniest Home Videos", he is also the Chairman of the Caucus for Television Producers, Writers & Directors, and recently received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Salhany's long career includes serving as the former Chief Executive Officer and President of UPN, former Chairman of Fox Broadcasting and former Chairman of Twentieth Television.
