Challenging Corporate Media & Organizing a Movement for Media Democracy

Three years ago, just as the 2000 elections moved into overdrive, more
than 300 people gathered in Burlington over the weekend of October 13-14 for
two days of networking, workshops, and plenary sessions. This October, media
makers and progressive activitists are invited to gather for a sequel.
The dates: October 10-11. The place:
Burlington, Vermont.
Once again, the idea is to have progressive
media workers gather over a weekend to share experiences and search for a
common agenda. We'll examine the current media environment, discuss
alternatives, and continue building a movement for media democracy. The
conference schedule and registration information will be available by early
September.
The goals:
To promote media alternatives and improve access to all media
To foster independent media networks that support social change
To assist and promote independent publications, stations, and other projects
