Protest March To NBC, ABC, & Clear Channel Headquarters

STOP WARMONGERING, WAR PROFITEERING AND CENSORSHIP

THE CORPORATE MEDIA blindly promoted the Bush administration's war on Iraq. They uncritically accepted as truth press releases from the White House and CentCom, despite previous announcements by the Pentagon that false information would routinely be circulated as part of 'information warfare' and despite repeated false reports about the progress of the war.

THE MEDIA WHITEWASHED THe gruesome realities of the war, ignoring the deaths of thousands of civilians and the devastation of a country already crippled by 12 years of UN sanctions. They continue to promote US attempts to install a puppet regime in Iraq, and ignore the growing resistance of the Iraqi people. We hear little about Iraq's ongoing humanitarian crisis, or about the crisis here at home.

THE MEDIA CONGLOMERATES WILL PROFIT from multimillion dollar telecommunication reconstruction contracts. This helps explain why they fail to report on US corporations — like Bechtel, Cheney's Haliburton, and a host of others — who are reaping the spoils of war in the form of control over every aspect of the Iraqi economy, from oil production to transportation, from health care to media systems.

THE CORPORATE MEDIA EVEN SILENCED investigation of us military strikes against non-embedded reporters, including the bombing of the Al-Jazeera Baghdad office that killed a key correspondent and the shelling of the Palestine Hotel that killed British and Spanish journalists.

TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), chaired by Michael Powell, son of Colin Powell, is on the verge of eliminating the last regulations against media consolidation that currently prevent ONE GIANT COMPANY from owning all the media in the USA.

JOIN US IN THE STREETS OF PHILADELPHIA ON MAY 10TH TO SAY NO TO ENDLESS WAR! NO TO MEDIA MONOPOLY!
