The Catalyst
Corporations control most of the news and entertainment that is available to you. Motivated by profit, their content appeals to the lowest common denominator and lacks the vibrancy of the world as its truly lived. But in every community, people are publishing their own zines, writing their own songs, and making their own movies. If you are one of these people, you are part of a chain reaction bringing the world better living through independent media, and you should come to the Allied Media Conference.

The Reaction
In June, each of the past four years, hundreds of artists and media makers have convened in Bowling Green, Ohio, to celebrate each other's work and to strengthen alliances. What started as a conference for zine writers and small presses has grown into a full weekend devoted to creators and supporters of independent radio, music, television, web, print, movies, and more. This year, the conference is focused on using independent media to change our world. If you know how to do that or you want to learn, you belong at the Allied Media Conference.

The Elements
The AMC is comprised of two days of workshops and discussions that are proposed and presented by conference participants. There will also be strategy sessions for local newspapers and microcinemas. This year, we have added a set of workshops focusing on media literacy and the use of independent media in the classroom. As always, there will be a gallery for selling and sharing your work, a music concert, film screenings, and some time to party.
