The National Conference for Media Reform will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center, located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The city boasts a vibrant independent media scene, abundant theaters, and venues for local music, many of them within minutes of the convention center.
  
Minneapolis further features a busy nightlife, irresistible food, an amazing array of arts and cultural venues and a rich history. Stay an extra day in Minneapolis and take in a show at the Guthrie Theater or visit the many museums that grace the city, including the award-winning Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Institute of ArtsClick here to check out everything Minneapolis has to offer.
 
Venture just across the Mississippi River to St. Paul, where you can meander down Grand Avenue with its locally owned clothing shops, ice cream parlors, renowned children's bookstore, and cafes.  It is most famous for its restaurants that range from upscale eateries with award-winning chefs to come-as-you-are little nooks, and from ethnic restaurants to bar and grills. From Grand Avenue, stroll to downtown St. Paul, where you can find the State Capital, the Fitzgerald Theater (home to the live public radio program A Prairie Home Companion), and the Landmark Center. GETTING THERE
 
Minneapolis is easily accessible by air, train, bus and car.  Please see below for information on travel to and from the Minneapolis/St. Paul region. 
 
Air: Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is located approximately 14 miles south of downtown Minneapolis and is about a 20-minute drive to the convention center and the conference hotels.  Please see below for driving directions to the convention center.
 
Bus: The Minneapolis Greyhound terminal is located at 950 Hawthorne Ave., about one mile from the convention center. Please call 800-231-2222 for further information.

Train: The Amtrak terminal is located at Midway Station, 73 Transfer Road, St. Paul, MN 55114, less than six miles from the convention center. Please call 1-800-USA-RAIL for further information.

Car:  Driving directions to the convention center are provided below.  Parking is available on-site for the duration of the event. If you are interested in carpooling check out SpaceShare.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION
 
When you arrive in Minneapolis, you can easily reach the convention center or your hotel through a variety of ground transportation options.  Food, conference lodging and entertainment are all within walking distance of the convention center, and public transportation can easily connect you with the surrounding area.  If you are staying at the University of Minnesota, Free Press will be offering scheduled shuttle service between the convention center and the university throughout the conference.
 
Public Transportation:
 
From the airport, the Hiawatha Line light rail and city buses both offer service to downtown Minneapolis, and they cost between $1.25 and $2.75 for a one-way fare, depending on time of day.  Public transportation runs from both terminals and will bring you downtown in about 30 minutes.  Purchase tickets for the light rail on the Tram Level. Taxi and Limo Service:
 
Both airport terminals have taxi stands, and cab fare to downtown Minneapolis is about $25.

Car Rental:
 
Minneapolis- St. Paul International Airport features multiple car rental options on site.  Please visit the individual car rental sites for more information:  Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National.   
 
Shuttle Service to the University of Minneapolis:
 
Free Press will be offering scheduled shuttle service between the convention center and University of Minnesota dorms.  Please check back for the shuttle service schedule closer to the event. 
 
DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO THE CONVENTION CENTER AND DOWNTOWN MINNEAPOLIS
 
From Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport
 
From the airport, take the Highway 55 exit. Follow Highway 55 west to Minneapolis. This will become Highway 62 West. Follow Highway 62 to I-35W north to the Minneapolis downtown exits. Then take the 11th Street exit. Follow 11th Street South to 2nd Avenue South. Turn left on 2nd Avenue South and go one block to the convention center.
 
From points North (I-35W)
 
Take I-35W to Highway 280. Follow Highway 280 to I-94 west. Follow I-94 to the 11th Street exit (NOT the 11th Avenue exit). Follow 11th Street to 2nd Avenue South. Turn left on 2nd Avenue South and go one block to the convention center.
 
From the South (I-35W)
 
Follow the downtown exit signs to the 11th Street exit and follow 11th Street to 2nd Avenue South. Turn left on 2nd Avenue South and go one block to the convention center.
 
From the West (I-94)

Take the 4th Street exit from I-94 and proceed to 2nd Avenue South. (Do NOT turn right onto 2nd Avenue North.) Turn right on 2nd Avenue South and go 8 blocks to the convention center.

From the West (I-394)

Take the downtown exit (12th Street); follow 12th Street South to 2nd Avenue South and turn right. The convention center will be on your left.

From the East (I-94)

Take the 11th Street exit; follow 11th Street South until you reach 2nd Avenue South, turn left onto 2nd Avenue South and cross 12th Street South. The convention center will be on your left. The Underground Plaza Parking Ramp will be on your right.
 
PARKING  

Parking lots are located adjacent to the Minneapolis Convention Center. Across the street from the center, an underground ramp connects the parking garage to the skyway system, convention center, and downtown hotels and attractions.  The surrounding area also offers multiple parking options.
