Radio Spectrum Inventory Act

The Radio Spectrum Inventory Act, introduced by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), would require the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and the Federal Communications Commission to take inventory of the radio spectrum bands they manage. Free Press strongly supports this bill.

The bill specifies that the spectrum inventory must be completed within 180 days and that the FCC and NTIA must publicly disclose the information on a Web site.

The bill cleared the Senate Commerce Committee by unanimous vote on July 8, 2009 and now awaits consideration by the full Senate.
