Free Press Public Interest Summer Associate
Application Deadline: March 1 (Applicants are encouraged to apply early.)
Position: Summer Associate based at Free Press' Washington, D.C. office
Term: 10–12 weeks, June 1 to Aug. 20 (flexible)
Stipend: Competitive stipends are possible. This is to be negotiated and will depend on an applicant’s individual circumstances and an assessment of resources from the referring educational institution.
Description: The Summer Associate will work on a range of cutting-edge, high-profile and significant legal cases and proceedings before the D.C. Circuit, other circuits, the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission. There will also be some work on congressional lobbying. Free Press legal work focuses on Net Neutrality, media ownership rules, new models for journalism and public media, antitrust law, the use of spectrum, wireless consumer protections and cable television policy. Most of these projects involve briefing against the nation’s top law firms and litigators, and many of them will have a profound impact on First Amendment doctrine and policies, and on our media and Internet landscape.

Free Press engages in public education campaigns, coalition building, congressional and FCC lobbying, and appellate and administrative litigation.
